Sir Peter Blake is a British born artist. Best known for his pioneering contributions towards the Pop Art Movement in the 1950’s. Born in Dartford, Kent, Blake was 7 when the Second World War began. He was evacuated more than once and on returning back to Dartford he joined art school at the age of 13. He has been an artist for 70 years. In 2002 he was knighted for his services to art. His iconic work includes Self- Portrait with Badges and the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album sleeve.
