Katharine Hamnett is an English fashion designer and activist based in London. She is perhaps best known for her political t-shirts and her ethical business philosophy. Hamnett studied fashion at Central Saint Martins, launching her eponymous label in 1979 and causing a stir due to her protest shirts which were quickly adopted by bands like Wham! and Queen. She is also famed for promoting the use of organic cotton and ethical manufacturing in the fashion industry.
